Michael Gomes is the Senior Vice President of Benefit Sales. Over the course of his nearly 18 years with BenefitMall, Gomes has overseen various organizations within BenefitMall including Marketing, Carrier Relations, Benefit Customer Service, and Payroll Sales. In early 2013 he transitioned from overseeing Benefit Sales and Service to focus his efforts on Government and Carrier relations as the ACA went from a proposed healthcare reform bill to law.
A veteran of the insurance industry, Gomes brings to BenefitMall more than 35 years of experience in planning, developing and executing national sales initiatives, including expertise around Carrier relations and organizational development. Gomes is recognized for his extensive industry knowledge and tremendous support of the importance Brokers play in today’s complex health insurance environment.
Prior to joining BenefitMall, Gomes was Vice President of Sales and Business Development with national responsibility for the Small Group Business segment of Prudential Healthcare. Previously, he served as the Group Vice President of Strategic Sales Planning and Business Development at New York Life Insurance Company. Prior to that, Gomes served as Senior Vice President of Sales and Business Development for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield, where he also served as Chief Executive of its small and mid-size markets. His extensive industry experience also includes work with New Jersey Blue Cross and Blue Shield and the New Jersey Department of Insurance.
Gomes graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics, and earned a Master’s degree in quantitative analysis and econometrics from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, New Jersey. A native of New Jersey for over 40 years, he now splits his time between Dallas, TX, and outer-banks of North Carolina.
